Valentine’s Day has definitely changed in my house as years go by………..When my now husband and I met it was quite something!!! I can remember the first Valentines. He had our apartment nice and cleaned that is a very good way to my heart:) I had just got off work so I knew there would be something waiting for me. I walked into the bedroom to change and found so many goodies on the bed. Flowers, perfume.cozy robe, slippers, jewelery and can’t forget chocolate.

Now……. it’s me getting up and 7 am to make pink pancakes for my 5 year old daughter. Don’t get me wrong I love doing things like that. I also made pink pancakes for my husband too We spent the day together going to the park and riding bikes. Our daughter has so much passion when it comes to these types of holidays. I found a coffee cup and turtle chocolates under my pillow. They gave it to me the night before because our daughter can’t keep surprises that easily.

Valentine’s Evening after our daughter went to bed we made a beautiful late dinner. Rib eye steak, lobster tails with roasted potatoes. It was very nice we watched a movie but you know what I don’t remember it I think we were watching the Olympics back and forth as well.

Go Canada Go!!!!!

What a great day for a run…..I dropped my daughter off at school and headed over to my dad’s house. We’ve decided to start running together again. We used to run together last year but things change. I hurt my leg he went on vacation and before you know it it’s been like 5 months since we last ran together. It sure feels nice to start back up into running. Running to me is something that forces me to see how far I can take it.

We just got back into the swing of things today was our second run together and there is already improvement. We usually run as far as we can without having to stop. Today we ran a great route with hills and abit of trail. Slowly building up my distance. My main goal is to run the 10k again in April. This time I’m hoping my dad will run in it this year.

Stretching is something that really needs to be done after every run. I’ve managed to be able to have different techniques with all the clinics I’ve been apart of. My favorite muscle to stretch is the gluteus maximus I can’t stretch that enough:)

Another thing to remember is nutrition try eating small about of oatmeal or yogurt with a few nuts. Hydration is key also but if your running in the early morning try drinking enough water the evening before so you don’t get cramps or stitches. My favorite thing to eat after a run is a nice cold smoothie with lots of antioxidant berries like raspberries, blueberries and blackberries mixed with your favorite yogurt. I like to add a banana and 1 tbsp of almond butter. You can add whole nuts as well whatever kind of nuts you like it just gives the smoothie a bit more protein. I add water to blend the smoothie about 1/3 of a cup. Depends on how you like it thicker or thinner. Also add in some ice to give it that nice icy cold texture. What a great start to my day now I have to clean up my house before the weekend hits it.

Cheers

Ok so I’m sitting on my big comfy bed with a white duvet watching my daughter eat a cupcake. She’s watching a movie while I’m doing this. It’s a Sunday afternoon and I don’t feel like doing much right now……..so we make it a nice quite Sunday afternoon. Should I feel guilty about not doing anything, I mean we go to school and work all week. By the time the weekend comes I’m happy I’m off with my family but I’m also completely exhausted. My daughter did however go to Gramma’s for a sleepover on Saturday. She had a great time too…….treats, pizza, movies and feeding ducks. Boy how lucky am I to have grandparents so involved in her life. It gives my hubby and I big break which we need.

I have to confess I’m totally excited about the Grammy’s being on tonight!!!! I haven’t watched the Grammy’s very much but I’m in the mood to see extremely rich singers dress up like crazy and be big headed. I have chips and dip for that. The chips are the blue corn organic from Tostitos and the dip is baja ghanouj soooo yummy and healthy.

Is there anything that you need……..that is the question I usually ask before leaving the house. I’m the shopper of the house I buy everything we need. Sometimes my husband does I bet of shopping but that’s usually when I’m sick or I just tell him to go get it. Anyways the point of this post is to gather up ideas for my daughters lunches and snacks at school.

I like to shop the perimeter of any grocery store, everything we like seems to be in the aisles but I’m trying to keep my family healthy. My daughter’s lunch box usually consist of turkey sandwich, granola bar ( no nuts ), apple, cheese, tomato and crackers of some kind along with water bottle. You might think that’s alot but she is in school for 6-7 hours twice week. The rest of the week the lunch is still the same. I give her alot of choices because most of the time she doesn’t eat what I give her. It must be a phase because she does eat but not as much as I would like. Getting back to shopping………. bread without nuts because that’s what she likes if she had it her way it would be white bread all day everyday ,yogurt pops I don’t really think they have much nutrition but my daughter loves them so I put those in her lunch. Cheese sticks are great for lunches along with crackers but my daughter doesn’t like cheese sticks. I’ve tried every kind of cheese stick but no luck. Lets be honest convenient food is not that great. I’d rather cut up cheese then give her those cheese animal cut outs from black diamond. Another one is fruit leather that is easy to throw into her lunch box but it doesn’t beat real fruit cut up. I’ve tried fresh fruit with yogurt dip but most of the time it comes back home because it had seeds or something. Well gotta go to the grocery store and get all the good intention foods for my daughter but will come out with all the horrible stuff that she will only eat.

Well I managed to drink the herbal laxative tea! It was awful the taste was unexplainable……. it was very interesting to drink. It consisted of 5 mini packages that are to be mixed with hot water. It doesn’t need to be boiling water, honestly you do not want to be sipping this kind of tea. I realized that with the first cup of tea. I almost boiled the water so it was way to hot to just gulp down and I put the tea in my biggest tea cup. Stupid idea because after one sip I thought OMG!! I have to drink this s%i%. I learned very quickly that the next cup would be extremely smaller more like a shot glass. GET IT DONE!!

Results!!!!!!!! It totally worked I was able to go to the bathroom with hesitation. The tea made me feel alot better inside that’s for sure. I would definitely use this method again in the future if need be.

I’ve been waiting last minute to see my doctor only reason being is, I think it will pass soon. Not to worry right??

I recently spoke with a Chinese medicine doctor and he only met with me for a few short minutes but he was able to almost pinpoint my problem. I told him my what was going on with my body but he was very aware with what I was feeling. I will be trying a herbal laxative tea within the next 12 hours so I will come back on to my blog and give my opinion about how it works and how it makes me feel.

I got up today and did something I haven’t done in about 3 weeks……………..Worked out!! I go to a boxing fitness class, every Tuesday & Thursday. It totally kicks my butt, it’s the greatest work out ever. So in adding to my lose 50lbs in 365 days I usually work out 3 to 4 times a week. I will start running in January when I start training for the 10k race. It’s really not a race for me I’m just happy to finish because it feels so good.

I recently went to Punta Cana for those that have no idea where that is it’s in the Dominican Republic. I didn’t know it existed until I was trying to find a really nice tropical place for me and my husband to have our honeymoon. It was beautiful, I was speechless when I took one look at the ocean. It was unbelievable how soft the sand was and how green the ocean was. It truly was amazing. Now for the resort that we stayed at it was great as in the people and food was actually pretty good. The rooms had a very strong musky smell to them and the king size bed was two doubles pulled together. So funny but we decided that this was ok for us. We were happy just to be swimming in the warm ocean it was like bath water. There was a family that were so over the top with complaints that they ended up wasting a day arguing to up grade to another room or hotel. They were annoying I can understand if your unhappy because of a bed that is kinda hard like a rock, but honestly what do you expect. Just be happy your in another country and your able to drink, smoke and eat when ever and where ever. How about being grateful that we live in such a beautiful and free country Canada. Just had to get that off my chest. Oh yeah I don’t think I would stay at that resort again. My husband and I will probably go somewhere abit closer to Canada like Maui next year. The plane ride was horrible going there. On the way back we made sure we reserved seats that were in a row of 2 seats. Smart idea pay 25$$ extra but at least your sitting just with your partner.
